Customer Reviews. For the price, I firmly believe this is one of the best RAID controllers available. Highly customizable option ROM helps accommodate compatibility with older machines, 8 ports guarantees you will run out of drive bays before disk ports, variety of built-in RAID modes is fantastic, SAS support on top of SATA is handy, support for 6G disks rocks, and the x8 PCI-E interface ensures reduced bottleneck and decent transaction speeds across all disks. Works great with Ubuntu Server 12.04/12.10.

IO Crest 2 Port SATA III PCI-Express x1 Card (SY-PEX40039)
My Windows 7 x64 system boots fine from this card using a SATA 3 SSD. Much faster than my regular HD. I don't have any SATA 3 ports on my motherboard, just SATA 2. At first I plugged in my SSD into a SATA 2 port and it was faster than a regular HD but was not allowing the SSD it's full speed. This card was much cheaper and easier than replacing my MB. Speed tests showed about a 30% speed increase from the SATA 2 port on my MB. Great buy.
No issues here - Using a couple of these with my Gigabyte EP45-UD3R. I needed an SATAIII solution in PCIe x1 since that's what my board has available, and I'm getting close to maximum SATAIII bandwidth from my SSD drives now. My Win Experience score went from 5.9 up to 7.4 - not too shabby. I recommend only using a single SATAIII drive at a time with this card in order to utilize the maximum speed of the PCIe x1 slot it plugs into - otherwise, it will split the speed of the PCIe slot between the two drives and you loose I/O performance. In my case, I am multi-booting my PC (XP/7/OSX) and using my SATAIII SSDs as OS drives with this controller, this means only one drive is being used at any point, and I maximize performance while still utilizing both ports on a card. These cards also support AHCI natively and can operate under 64bit HPET for Hackint0sh purposes.

• ASM1061 Chipset (Asmedia 1061 SATA Host Controller)
